The challenge

A pre-purchase inspection had found active knob-and-tube wiring and ungrounded outlets throughout. The family had moved in and needed to keep the house usable, including the kitchen.

Our approach

  1. Room-by-room survey and a written four-stage plan.
  2. Cable fished through existing cavities, keeping plaster openings small.
  3. Kitchen done in two days with a temporary circuit for the fridge.
  4. Old wiring disconnected and made safe at each stage.

Scope of work

  • New grounded circuits throughout
  • AFCI/GFCI protection where required
  • Interconnected smoke and CO alarms
  • Replacement panel with labelled circuit directory

Outcome

The house is fully rewired on modern circuits, and the family never had to move out.
