Frequently asked questions

If your question isn’t answered here, call the office or send us a message.

Booking & quotes

How quickly can you come out?

For non-urgent work we can usually visit within a few working days. Urgent problems during our emergency hours are prioritised; we give you an arrival estimate on the phone.

Do you give written quotes?

Yes. Anything beyond a small repair is quoted in writing with a clear scope, price and timeline before work starts. Quotes are valid for 30 days.

Do you charge for quotes?

Site surveys for larger projects such as rewiring, panel upgrades and commercial work are free. Fault-finding visits are charged as a service call, credited if you go ahead.

Safety & standards

Do you pull permits?

Where the work requires a permit, we apply for it, schedule the inspection and include the fee in the quote. You receive a copy of the final sign-off.

Are you insured?

Arcwell Electric is a fictional demo business. Replace this answer with your own insurance details, and only state cover you actually hold.

Is your work guaranteed?

Installations carry a 2-year workmanship warranty. Manufacturer warranties on equipment such as chargers and fittings apply in addition.

Emergencies

When is your emergency line open?

Every day, 6:00 – 22:00. Calls outside these hours go to voicemail and are returned from 6:00. If there is fire, smoke or an immediate danger to life, contact your local emergency services first.

What counts as an electrical emergency?

Burning smells, smoke, sparking, buzzing from a panel, water near electrics, or loss of power to part of your property while neighbours have power. When in doubt, call and we will advise.

EV chargers & upgrades

Will I need a panel upgrade for an EV charger?

Not always. We do a load calculation first. Many homes have enough capacity, and smart chargers with load management can avoid an upgrade altogether.

Which charger should I buy?

Any listed Level 2 charger suitable for your vehicle and location will work. We are happy to recommend options at different price points, or install one you already own.

Payment

How do I pay?

Small jobs are paid on completion. Larger projects have a deposit and staged payments set out in the quote. We accept card and bank transfer.
