The challenge

The garage stood about 18 metres from the house with no existing supply. The owners also wanted garage lighting and a couple of outlets for tools.

Our approach

  1. Load calculation confirmed the existing 200A panel had capacity.
  2. Route planned along a fence line to avoid the driveway and irrigation.
  3. Trench, conduit and a small sub-panel in the garage for the charger, lights and outlets.
  4. Charger configured and connected to the owners’ app before handover.

Scope of work

  • Underground conduit and feeder to the garage
  • 60A sub-panel in the garage
  • 48A hardwired Level 2 charger
  • LED batten lighting and two GFCI-protected outlets

Outcome

The car now charges overnight in the garage, and the sub-panel leaves room for a workshop circuit later.
